Effective July 1, 2026, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will update its text messaging number from 468311 to 872466.

USCIS Announces New SMS Number and Issues Immigration Advisory

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a change to the phone number it uses for sending official text (SMS) messages. Starting 1 July 2025, USCIS will no longer send messages from the number 468-311 (GOV-311). Instead, the agency will begin using a new number: 872466, which spells out USAIMM. In an official press statement, USCIS explained that the change is intended to help recipients easily recognise legitimate messages from the agency. These messages may include case status updates, appointment reminders, and other important notifications. To avoid confusion or misidentifying these texts as spam, USCIS strongly recommends users save the new number, 872466, in their contacts.

USCIS Warns Against Advocating Violence

In a separate advisory, USCIS issued a firm reminder about immigration eligibility and national security. In a recent post on the social media platform X, the agency warned that visas and green cards can be revoked if individuals are found to be advocating or supporting violence.”Receiving a visa or green card is a privilege,” the agency stated. “Our laws and values must be upheld. If you advocate violence, support terrorist activity, or encourage others to do so, you are no longer eligible to remain in the United States.” USCIS continues to stress the importance of respecting U.S. laws and values as a condition of maintaining lawful immigration status.

Applicants for student visas under the F (academic studies), M (vocational studies), and J (exchange programmes) categories will now face increased scrutiny of their online presence. According to the U.S. Department of State (DOS), individuals found expressing support for terrorist organisations through social media may be deemed ineligible to study in the United States.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
